Boonah State High School welcomes laptops and iPads to the classroom. The student 1:1 laptop program launched in 2011 with 78 students and has since grown so that all students in years 7 to 12 are able to be part of the program.
Laptops and iPads in classes allow students to collaborate, innovate, access a world of resources and publish work in a safe public forum. This provides greater opportunities for students to think, critique and be creative.
A 1:1 program simply means that students in years 7 to 12 at Boonah State High School will be offered the opportunity to have a laptop or iPad at school.
Our 1:1 program has changed to a BYOx model in line with Education Department policy. Students who currently have a school-owned device (year 12 only in 2017) will continue until the term of their agreement expires.
Boonah State High School is asking that parents lend their support to this very valuable and innovative 1:1 program. Strong support from parents is paramount to the program’s success. The 1:1@BSHS plan has been endorsed by the P&C executive. The Student BYOx Charter has been carefully prepared to provide you with all the necessary information. Please take the time to read the appropriate document in full.
A fee of $90 per year for Year 7 and 8 students with an iPad and $110 for Years 9, 10, 11 and 12 students with a laptop will be charged to access the school network under the BYOx program. Students will not be permitted to access the network unless this fee has been paid and an agreement has been signed. See the link on the right of this page for the “Participation and Connection Agreement”. The fee covers the cost of special software needed to access network resources as well as some technical support. Please see the Charter for more details.
